How to pick the right technique for your eyebrows?

I totally understand that the multiple terms used to describe different techniques of micropigmentation can be obscure and overwhelming. So I wanted to write this article to simplify the process and help you decide which enhancement is best for you

Now, before we start, please note that each technique listed below can be further personalised to meet your specific needs. Whether you want your eyebrows to look very natural, just a bit more refined or you are ready to transform your eyebrows and make some bolder changes. I am here to help and advise you the best I can.

Please note that your eyebrows are measured beforehand and the pre-drawing has to be accepted by you before going ahead with any procedure.

Machine hair strokes

If you’re looking for hyperrealism, then machine hair strokes, also known as nano hair strokes or digital hair strokes, are for you. That method originated in Russia and allows for the most realistic 3-D-looking eyebrows with a bit of an artistic touch.

The inspiration behind this technique comes from virgin, untouched, bushy eyebrows that belong to children… yes children! Their natural eyebrows are created by nature and nature knows best.

Machine hair strokes are incorporated in the middle and outer parts of your eyebrows (which is usually the hairiest area) to intensify the natural hair pattern. Respecting the natural hair flow, the wispy hair strokes are added for multiple reasons:

  • restoring the density of your brows,

  • enhancing or accentuating the shape and colour of your eyebrows,

  • designing and structuring your eyebrows when there is no hair at all.

This technique is ideal to give your eyebrows an airy and hyper-realistic look with almost undetectable tattooed hair strokes that imitate natural hairs.

Nevertheless, we are able to enhance them in the way you want to.

This technique can be combined with shading (a misty and powdery layer of colour is applied between the hair strokes to create more definition and saturation of the colour). Usually, the addition of shading helps to restore the density and fullness of the brows.

Quick facts about Machine hair strokes:

  • Time to complete?

It takes around 2h 30 min

  • How long does it last?

The effect lasts up to 2 years, annual retouches are encouraged to do

  • How is it done?

This enhancement is achieved by using a cosmetic tattooing machine that powers an ultra-fine needle which inserts the pigment into the skin.

  • Is it for everyone?

Not suitable for porous skin

  • Is it painful?

The sensation is very often compared to the eyebrows being plucked. Don’t worry it’s not painful and if you feel a bit of discomfort anaesthetic cream is applied to minimise it.

Microblading

Microblading was discovered over a thousand years ago. It is one of the most popular eyebrow treatments in the world. The main objective is to make your eyebrows look fuller, denser, and enhanced but still keep a natural and neat appearance. The implanted hair strokes blend in with your natural hairs. If you don’t have any eyebrow hairs it’s not a problem as we can design the “hair pattern” from scratch.

Quick facts about Microblading:

  • How long does it take to complete the procedure?

It takes around 2 h to complete the treatment.

  • How long does it last?

The effect lasts up to 1.5 years, annual retouches are encouraged to do.

  • How is it done?

Microblading is performed by using a disposable tool ending with a blade that is built with fine microblades that insert the pigment under the skin. In this way, very fine strokes are created and imitate natural hairs.

  • Is it for everyone?

Not suitable for porous and extremely oily skin.

  • Is it painful?

The sensation is very often compared to the eyebrows being plucked. Don’t worry it’s not painful and if you feel a bit of discomfort anaesthetic cream is applied to minimise it.

Hybrid brows

Microblading can be combined with shading (a misty and powdery layer of colour that is applied between the hair strokes to create more definition and depth of the colour). Usually, the addition of shading helps to restore the density and fullness of the brows.

The final result depends on your desires and what you are after. If you prefer your eyebrows to still look as natural as possible it’s feasible, even with the addition of shading.

Quick facts about Hybrid brows:

  • How long does it take to complete the procedure?

It takes around 2.5 h to complete the treatment.

  • How long does it last?

The effect lasts up to 2 years, annual retouches are encouraged to do.

  • How is it done?

It is a combination of microblading and shading or machine hair strokes and shading.

  • Is it for everyone?

Not suitable for porous skin.

  • Is it painful?

The sensation is very often compared to the eyebrows being plucked. Don’t worry it’s not painful and if you feel a bit of discomfort anaesthetic cream is applied to minimise it.

Ombré brows

How many times have you tinted your eyebrows, or used henna to not only dye the hairs but also to colour the skin underneath to create the look of perfectly and gently pencilled-in brows? How disappointed you were to discover that this look, known also as HD brows, lasts not even a week (your hairs are still tinted but the definition is gone).

If this is your favourite look then ombré-powder enhancement is the best solution for you. Ombré-powder enhancement for your eyebrows will create a look of freshly tinted eyebrows (the powdery and coloured mist is dispersed on your eyebrows).

To make it look very natural and powdery, I usually keep the frontal part of the eyebrows very airy. The saturation of the colour delicately intensifies towards the middle part and the tail of the eyebrows creating a 3D look.

The final look can be as subtle or as adventurous as you wish. If you have old, faded permanent makeup this particular technique of micropigmentation can cover it up.

Quick facts about Ombré brows:

  • How long does it take to complete the treatment?

It takes around 2h to complete the treatment.

Yes, it is suitable for all skin types, even very porous.
