Aftercare Guidelines for Microblading and Micropigmentation

Updated: Sep 10, 2022

To get the best results from your treatment, it is critical that you follow the following advice.

Please read this carefully before even considering microblading or micropigmentation as the healing is critical to getting the results you are looking for.

What to expect and important advice:

  • Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area. This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection. It’s important to let the wound to flake on its own.

  • If the pigmented area is still healing refrain from applying any makeup.

  • Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold, steam or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. For example: the direct sun, tanning beds, jacuzzis, saunas, saltwater, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been advised to use.

  • The healing process might take longer if you are battling a cold or any infection.

  • If you have had a lip treatment, you should also avoid eating spicy and salty foods, drink liquids through a straw.

Daily routine for the first week

  • Always wash your hands before applying your balm on treated areas.

  • Apply the balm a minimum of 2 times daily before and after getting the treated area wet. For the application of the balm you can use a micro brush or a clean cotton bud for each application (this will prevent cross-contamination).

  • Keep hair away to prevent any infection.

  • If the area gets wet, gently pat dry using a clean tissue.

For eyebrows microblading, ombré or hybrid:

The day immediately after the treatment your eyebrows might appear much darker after the treatment. Do not worry, they will start to become lighter after 4 to 7 days.

2 to 5 days after the treatment, be prepared to experience:

  • Tenderness.

  • Flaking.

  • Dryness and itchiness in the treated area.

  • Swelling and redness.

  • If you had a lash enhancement treatment your eyelids can appear red and puffy.

The true healed colour will come through approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of the skin.

For lip blush:

If you have had a lip treatment and you are suffering from cold sores use an anti-herpes medication for the next 7 days. This will help to prevent an outbreak, which could cause discomfort and scarring.

If your lips are swollen you can use ice packs wrapped with a clean cloth.
